Get Brandon Lee a Star on The Hollywood Walk of Fame Campaign

Help Brandon to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and get the recognition he deserves. Undoubtedly, Brandon Lee was destined to become a major motion picture star. Despite his passing Brandon, remains a powerful source of personal inspiration to countless fans around the globe.

His death changed how Hollywood dealt with firearms on set, perhaps saving other lives in the process. His brief cinematic career demonstrated his acting talent, and universal appeal to international audiences.

While the Chamber of commerce, do not recognize petitions in support of the application, we do need to demonstrate that Brandon had accomplished more then previous applicants who were granted the star award.

Brandon made 5 films, and two television episodes in his 8 years in the industry, and his last role in ‘The Crow’, is considered by many in the industry to have been an influence in pop culture. Brandon’s death changed firearm safety laws in the United States, no longer can an actor point a gun in a scene at an actor.

Brandon’s humanity side was evident in his good will gesture, in aid of Actor George Davis, who died from Lou Gering’s disease in 1992. Brandon set up trust funds for Mr Davis’s two younger children. After his death, a portion of his estate was donated to this cause.

The Brandon Lee Movement started a growing petition to get Brandon, his own star on the Hollywood walk of fame. However, in order to accomplish this, the Hollywood chamber of commerce, requires that the following guidelines:

1. Professional achievement

2. Longevity of five years in the field of entertainment

3. Contributions to the community

There is a five-year waiting period after death for nominations of deceased individuals. The Committee does not necessarily select posthumous honourees each year.

All applications must include a bio (not exceeding two pages) and photo. Non-returnable samples of the nominee’s work may also be submitted

The Committee does not accept signature petitions or postcards, letters, etc. First-time nominations not selected will automatically rollover for another year. If not selected during the second year, the nominee must be re-submitted. The sponsorship fee is $25,000(USD) and is subject to change.

10.31.09 - Today we reached over 7,000 signatures. The signatures and their heartfelt and very emotive arguments of why Brandon deserves this honor, will be delivered to the appropriate parties. Keep spreading the word directing them towards the campaign, as well as what The Brandon Lee Movement (BLM) is trying to accomplish for the legacy of Brandon Lee. Thanks to EVERYONE who has helped keep this dream moving. You all are proof of what can be achieved if energies and directed at something positive. I am sure Brandon appreciates it - wherever he may be.

10.10.09 - As of today we have 6,951 signatures to our petition - which is AWESOME. Please keep spreading the word and getting as many signatures as everyone can.

12.30.08 - We have over 6,000 signatures now and it continues to grow. I have been pleasantly surprised that it has achieved the number it has, and am always pleased to receive feedback how our work has contributed to how popular Brandon Lee's profile is online. The more people learn about Brandon Lee and his achievements, as well as the human side of who he was, the better.

We promise that we will continue to seek a star for Brandon Lee, and will keep the public up-to-date with this campaign. Please do understand that it doesn't happen overnight. I have been involved with this campaign to get him his star since 1996, and believe me when I say it hasn't always been easy to even get people to get behind such a project. I had to deal with constant negativity and in those days, it was an uphill battle. However, I persisted (or I was relentless might be a more accurate description), always remembering Brandon's own catch phrase 'keep the faith', which in a nutshell expressed to people, to continue to pursue their dreams, no matter what obstacles were in front of you. I never have forgotten that message and never will. Brandon deserves some professional recognition for his own achievements, and at the very least you never know what you can achieve unless you give it a shot. As Brandon's late father, Bruce Lee said (to paraphrase if I can), it isn't enough for individuals to want to achieve, we all must take action for that to happen. I believe in that philosophy completely, and almost in the same vein, my late mother used to tell me 'you can't live your life by sitting on your arse' and that I agree with too. People sometimes, I am sure, wish they could achieve without having to do anything, but the truth is that it's the journey that makes success happen NOT the wish. I started both this campaign and the movement's site because I was sick of people complaining and not doing a damn thing about the very same thing they complained about. If you don't like something, then you have to try and make that change. I have done what I can, thus far to make sure that change happens for this dream. Thanks again for all your support.

4.15.08 - Our target of 5,000 signatures has been reached. This is wonderful news and we have managed to get 5,000 signatures in four years. Of course as explained in the star petition site, petitions are not accepted by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, but they did play an important role when Bruce Lee was granted his, and help justify reasons and sentiments of Brandon's fans who do play an important role in getting Brandon his star at long-last. There are some legalities that still need to be worked out before official fund raising takes place, but stay tune. All those in the BLM are working very hard towards the next step of the application process.

02.27.08 - Our target of 5,000 signatures has almost been reached. Today's count puts it at 4,720 signatures from all around the world. Great job everyone. Now we just have to concentrate on working toward fund raising for the application process. More news soon on this one.
