Brandon Lee Movement

The Movement's chief aim is to help perpetuate Brandon Lee's legacy and sharing his life with our the public, to information and educate. We at the BLM feel it is time that people recognize Brandon in his own right.

Brandon deserves to be more then known as Bruce Lee's son, or for his last role in The Crow. He was a gifted actor who had a life full of the potential for greatness, and at the core did everything he could to contribute something to humanity. It's about time people stopped comparing his Death with his father's, and to at last see the magic Brandon had, and which he has inspired in others.

Brandon was only 28 years old when he was killed in 1993. It is now 16 years later, and he still is a source of inspiration to his admirers, most of whom always will wonder 'what could of been'.  It is vital that we remember Brandon for what he did accomplish in his lifetime.

His small on-screen accomplishments does not diminish his impact on Hollywood, his effect on safety regulation laws in the film industry, and more importantly how his life has inspired others to live their own dreams.

The BLM will do what it takes to educate the greater public about the real Brandon Lee, there was more to him then just his surname. We will do this by writing, emails, petitions etc. Our mission is to get Brandon's name out there, the safest, easiest and legal way we can and for his life to be accurately reported on.

We also want to encourage other fans to join us, either by way of their own projects or by helping spread the word.

Take care,
Sam

Co-founder and Coordinator of The Brandon Lee Movement

Note: I would like to acknowledge my friend and co-founder Bridgett, who really pushed me into taking some action on the behalf of Brandon's legacy, and who I always will be honored to be associated with. Although she is a silent partner these days, in the early days of the BLM she provided me with much needed support and encouragement.

News/Updates...

10.31.09 - Devil's Night and Halloween are here again and there is always anxious buzz from Brandon and Crow fans alike who are eager to do their own 'Draven'. More emails this year than ever before to ask for advice in dressing up as Brandon from The Crow. Many are even entering the Croween contest over at crowfans.com. Good luck to all those who are entering. Nice to know some people are at least dashing the trend to go as something other than Edward and Bella from Twilight.

Now for the UPDATES. We have decided to expand an earlier project where fans send in their thoughts on Brandon and his impact to us to pass on to Brandon's estate. So, we have decided to expand this project by offering fans the opportunity to submit their expressions via vlog, blogs and even voice messages or podcasts. Be sure to check out the section out, especially as it grows. Thanks to Lucian who through YT gave a very emotive expression of gratitude towards Brandon and his last role in 'The Crow'. Send yours in through link or to inquire.

10.10.09It has been a while since we have updated this site, so excuse the delay. We have updated most sections of the Brandon Lee Movement (both Brandon main as well as the BLM main). We also have added two new sections to the BLM page (one is to display fan created artworks, the other gives BLM supporters the opportunity to tell us what kind of impact Brandon was had on your life or made on your life, either through a VLOG, Blog or voice message. These days with the technology so widely available it should be easy.

12.30.08 -  Happy New Year to all of our readers. 2009 hopefully will be a even better than what 2008 has been. As some of you know, we are currently working towards a Brandon Lee/biography research project, which we hope will be finished by the year's end. Fingers crossed on that front.

We do want to thank all readers who have supported us over this past year, have signed petitions or help spread the work...or even simply emailed us your thoughts. Every little bit of contribution helps to making sure Brandon's legacy continues.

We are hoping to make a new announcement about the Walk of Fame STAR campaign soon, we just need clearance for that to happen...stay tuned.

12.19.08 In case you have been living in a cave for the last few days, the news that there are now proposed plans to re-make the original film of The Crow, has angered many fans. While for a number of years there has been suggestions that a literal translation of the comic should be done, the idea that Stephen Norrington wants to re-make a film that was already made and is not outdated by any means, to many is rather concerning. Norrington comments about removing gothic elements and making the characters more realistic, also haven't sat well with the large majority of fans. So, in an effect to address fans concerns, we have started a petition to send to the makers clarifying that any plans to re-make a film using the developed character of Eric Draven (Draven was not the same Eric from the comic in many ways) that Brandon contributed significant artistic input and ideas into, would not be supported by fans, if it were copied. If they wish to do a literal translation, fine, but the statements in the media indicate that it has been proposed to try and pump new blood into the franchise, by trying to copying what should be left well and good alone, and what has great artistic integrity, is not widely going to be supported by fans. Please check our blog for the latest opinion on this. And please sign this petition to let Edward R. Pressman & Stephen Norrington know that a original re-make of the film is not warranted or supported, and what's more it will be only disrespectful and unethical against the screen legacy Brandon created in the film.
